Centropneus SRL, the company behind Michelin tires, has issued a recall for no less than 640 Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV tires. The reason: DOT labelings are missing from these tires thus violating U.S. tire safety standards.

What’s The issue Exactly?

The issue is that 640 Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires in the size 255/60R18 112V XL have been manufactured without the required DOT marking on the sidewall (see in the featured image). Although the tires actualy meet all performance and safety requirements, this missing marking alone means that they cannot be used in the U.S. under federal law.

The Recall in Numbers

  • Total number involved in the recall: 640 tires
  • Quarantined (not sold to customers): 626 tires remain in distributor possession
  • Sold to consumers: 14 tires may be on the road

Key Details about The Tires Affected by The Recall

  • Tire Model: Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV
  • Size: 255/60R18 112V XL
  • Production Dates: September 9, 2024 – November 25, 2024
  • TIN Codes: 1B5 U3 010X 3724–4824

What Should Owners Do?

In case you have bought Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV tires in the mentionned size, check the TIN code on its sidewall. If your tires are part of this recall, don’t hesitate to contact the tire retailer you have bought them from for a free replacement. The replacement deadline is March 5, 2026. You may also receive a $50 or $100 Visa gift card as part of the reimbursement program.
